Good news as Ghana plans cruise tours to the Center of the World

On June 6, 2024, the Ghana Tourism Authority met with the Ghana Navy and the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) to discuss the possibilities of organizing a cruise tour to the center of the world.

Prior to this meeting, a technical committee was inaugurated earlier on to structure how best Ghana can take advantage of the Center of the World to expand the tourism sector.

After fruitful meetings, they planned to launch the first commercial cruise tour to the Center of the World, utilizing two naval ships, on August 4, 2024. The tour will accommodate 100 participants, consisting of individuals from the tourism industry and the general public.

The Center of the World is about 30 hours away from the Ghana Naval Base in Tema. Also, the Center of the World is in the same location where the Greenwich Meridian (zero degree longitude) crosses the Equator (zero degree latitude).

Ghana is the nearest country to the center of the world, which is an advantage for the West African country to market this once-in-a-life experience to the world.
